Weird Object #3

This is probably my favorite weird object so far.... My grandmother gave me this antique ring years ago. What I love about this ring is it's legend. My grandmother was told that this rings' opening was used to store poisons so wives could easily slip them into their husbands drinks and foods. I am not 100% sure how true that is, but that is what she always told me and that is what her folks told her. Can anyone think of another use for this ring?? Let me know what you think, and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

I know they had ring like that for snuff. Google snuff- I'm not sure what it was exactly, but was popular way back when.
Cool ring, though!

OK, don't Google snuff. Too much nasty stuff comes up. Encyclopedia says it's a scented, powdered tobacco that people used to sniff.

I knew that there had to be a more believable reason for this style ring. Tobacco makes sense... I gues poison would work too for those devious wives, hehe. I am going to watch Deliverance tonight, I can't wait to see you guys next week to tell you about it!! Oh and enjoy your Sheep/Wool Show!

I suppose HUSBANDS could use it to do the deed to their WIVES...

Yes Yes I suppose there were some devious husbands back in those days as well. I am glad to know that is not the real reason for that rings creation. Listening to my grandmother talk about it throughout my life I really did think that poisoning was the only reason for that ring. You could call me a little naive I guess. Have a great weekend everyone!!

I used to own a funky jewelry store and I used to sell sterling silver poison rings. That is what they were called in the catalogues I used to order from. I never did check into the history but I suspect that they were really used to poison people back in the day!
